How it all started

When we moved to Crete from Athens and built "Creta Blue Boutique Hotel",it never crossed our mind that we could have a restaurant on site. In the first years, we offered  only drinks and snacks. We had two gas burners in the small kitchen to cook for the family, as we spent all day there. But, guests started questioning about the nice smells coming out of the kitchen, and that gave our mother the inspiration, that maybe she could do something more for them, like have a special dish of the day, since she was cooking for the family anyway.

Since 2019, when we did a big renovation, Blue Moon has become the talk of the town., It introduced the concept of a modern-day kitchen with emphasis on whole animal butchery and rare breed meats – fuelled by the aromas of modern Greek fusion cuisine and a Greek nouvelle tavern.

The kitchen also serves dishes which were once cooked by our mother and have become the favourites since 2004.

After more than a twenty years of committing to providing an exceptional service and experience, our award-winning restaurant, is considered a classic and has defined the concept of comfort food and rustic bistronomy as a present-day culinary trend all in boho chic setting with amazing views of the Aegean Sea, impeccable service and an unconventional wine list with a plethora of choices from Greek and International terroir.

Absolutely amazing food with one or two greek specialty dishes at night (which require booking in advance, but are totally worth it). In terms of desert, I recommend the orange pie, best thing ever! Lavinia the sommelier of the house will tell you which wine embraces the taste better. The view over Chersonissos is truly breathtaking and the ambience unique.

Guest from another hotel.

This is a must! For anybody staying in the Koutouloufari area. First of all, the view is outstanding, all along the coast in both directions.The food is amazing, probably the best you can get in the village and would recommend it to anyone. The mussels are a real winner! The star of the show is Lavinia the sommelier, always picks the perfect wine to accompany your food and loves her job. Her commitment to the guests is outstanding. We love this restaurant.
